Last year Miracle Gro and I finally embarked on a 9 month journey of reading Atlas Shrugged out loud to each other every night. Even after several friend recommendations, we felt intimated, just by it's size, and we weren't sure what to expect.
Well, what we found was a wonderful and thought provoking novel. Some nights, we didn't want to stop reading...we were pleasantly surprised.
Good timing, because this year they released the movie. We had extremely low expectations, but wanted to show our support for those who took the risk and effort to see this made. We really liked it. Sure, there were some things that could have been expounded on or speeches that could have been longer, but overall they did a great job. We loved the casting and the way the made the setting in the future, but it still had an antique feeling about the sets. For 10,ooo,000; not too shabby. My mother, who never read the book, really enjoyed it too.
If you don't know anything about Atlas Shrugged, here is a video that won a contest from the Ayn Rand Institute.
