I feel like I owe you an apology. You see, I watched your movie "Australia" on the little screen of my husbands laptop. What an insult to you and your work! This is one movie I am truly sorry I did not see on the big screen. It was beautiful. And that little boy... he stole my heart.
This movie, to me, was so much more than a love story between a man and a woman. It also showed me a history of Australia I never knew existed. Thank you.
My new favorite saying: "I sing you to me."
Sincerely,
The Gardener

"This movie, to me, was so much more than a love story"
Yeah, they tried to make it three movies in one... so it failed to be any. This movie ate it. I hate myself for having seen it.
I keep hearing people say that movie sucked. I can't see how you could go wrong with the way that it looked visually and Hugh Jackman. I mean, come on. It's been in my netflix cue for awhile (awaiting release). I can't wait until it comes.
I order to appreciate this movie, you have to understand a scale of good movies.
First, straightforward enjoyable movies.
Second, movies that take themselves seriously to the point that it's funny. Example: The Fast ad Furious series.
Third, movies that take themselves so seriously that it's not funny anymore and it sucks you back in. Example: Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Australia was in the 3rd category for the most part. I also watched it on my little TV and wished I had seen it in the theater.
It is very long and there are 2 places where you think it is ending, hence the 3 parts, but I didn't mind. I wanted to see more of the scenery and sets and colors. I am a sucker for the visual stuff.
I just came back to see if there were any more comments on this post and realized I misspelled queue. I'm brain dead today. Sorry for defiling your blog with spelling errors.
I LOVED that movie. I just saw it recently too. I think because I know some of the history of the country, I appreciated it even more. It made me want to go back! I loved it.
I thought it was a great movie, and I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen. Hugh Jackman, ahhhh!
We felt the exact same way Garener. I think it is interesting that you have always heard about Pearl Harbor, but never what the Japanese did to Australia. Great movie.
