Happy Valentine's Day

(Credit to Tiger Lily for the picture)

WARNING: If you aren't interested in reading mushy posts about how great the Gardener is, then you might want to navigate away. Really, if you don't want to read this, try this page.

I am reflecting on our first Valentine's day together. I had convinced my roommates to clear the apartment for the night, cleaned it, and cooked dinner for the Gardener. I made some killer chicken parmigiana (the way to the Gardener's heart is through her stomach). We ate dinner together and then just hung out and, well, . . . . The important part of that night was that I demonstrated my skills in the kitchen, but I digress.

The Gardener is the single greatest person that has entered my life. Since the day I kicked her out of my apartment after midnight, I knew we were destined to be together, and she knew it too.* She is my best friend and my number one fan. She has been supportive of my career goals and aspirations (except when I briefly mentioned law school), and has stuck by my side and continued to believe in me despite my inability to secure a job up to this point.** Without her, I would probably be at some dead end job, wanting to shoot myself. Now, I am not at a dead end job, and I don't want to shoot myself, so I consider that a big win for me.

Gardener, thank you for all you do for our family, and especially for me. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and I love you for it. Thank you for loving me despite all my odd quirks and for being a geeky economist.***

* - She cursed herself with me when she said to herself while walking home, "Man, I feel sorry for the girl that marries him. Watch, I will end up marrying him"
** - I am not entirely out of options yet.
*** - At least we are geeky about things that have social ramifications, as opposed to flux capacitors or the Klingon Language.

Awww, that was so sweet. Nancy, you're the single best person that has entered my life too. You and your pilgrim pies. The way to my heart is also through my stomach (which is why I get doughnuts and chocolate milk for Valentine's day instead of flowers :)
Love you guys!

Miracle Grow, you do have one of the most awesome wives ever! She is probably one of the few people who keeps me sane. Love you guys!
