Movin' and Shakin'

Today, if you haven't heard already, there was a 5.4 (initially, a 5.8) level earthquake today. It was centered in Chino Hills, but was felt as far away as Las Vegas. I was in my third floor office, so the shaking was pretty cool. When I went home for lunch, I turned on my ham radio to listen to the chatter. I was eavesdropping on an ALERT repeater, listening in to see if officials would require their communication services.

As a side note, cell phones are useless during any period of time when demand for services are abnormally high. Ham radios, however, don't seem to have the same type of congestion problems.

Any way, the garden bugs and the Gardener are in Chico, CA and will be going to Medford, OR, with Search, Destroy and Megan. They missed all the fun down here, though the Gardener went water skiing today. That's a lot more fun than an earthquake.

I found this cool video which shows a computer model of the earthquake. Check it out.

I heard about that! I was awake feeding Alicia when an earthquake hit Chicagoland. I totally dismissed because Chicago doesn't have earthquakes. It lasted for about 2 minutes.
