EQ Basketball

So I have decided to become a little more active in my Elder's Quorum activities. This includes playing the stake EQ basketball tournament. A while ago, I sprained my ankle playing at school, so I didn't think that I would be able to play at all. But after talking with Karl, I wanted to give it a try. So I am now into week two of playing (week three of the tournament) and my ankle feels pretty good. Since I have joined the team, we haven't lost!

This week, I had the Gardener come and cheer us on. There wasn't so much cheering, as the garden bugs got quite bored with the whole notion of basketball. But there were some good action shots.

Last week, I went 0-5 from the field, but I think I made this one (This week, my field goal % went up drastically from last week).

See the bald guy in the blue shirt? I totally owned him. Blocked shot, stole the ball, the works. He thought he was all bad at the top of the key trying to juke me out. I swatted the ball away, took it to the other end and got fouled on the lay-up. I made my free throws. Pwned!

Anyways, stay tuned for more updates from the basket ball court.

I'm pretty sure that there's a law somewhere that says something like,

"Lanky white guys who brag about their skills in a church league will get a large helping of humble pie at the hands of a 13-year old deacon next week."

Just sayin...

I guess I will have to keep my distance from 13 year old deacons this next week. But, in my opinion, I wouldn't be too terrified of deacons from our ward.

Well, last time I checked, you don't play against our ward. It's the 13 year olds from other wards that you need to be wary of.

"Pride cometh before the fall; especially if you're a white water polo player foraying in Mormon church basketball"

Jamal, I'm not gonna lie, 'Pwned' is always funny to me.

You know, Ben, I still have occasional flashbacks to Nate's kneecap incident at Wymount. Even though I got a clean block on him, he was still quite upset about it.
