Checking off things on our list

On Sunday we visited 3 places on our list of things to do before we leave So. Cal. Over the next few days, I'll be posting about our trip.

First Stop
This is us at the Los Angeles Live Steamers. It is run by volunteers and donations. These older men volunteer their time each Sunday for a few hours to drive people around on their over sized model trains. Dragonfly was in Heaven. This is one activity we had to do before the baby is born. You have to be 34" to ride and no carrying infants. It was a lot of fun.

On the LALS property they also have Walt Disney's barn that was on his property where he worked on his trains. After his wife died in '97, the property was sold and the barn is the only thing remaining from the property. Apparently he had 5 acres with a residence, pool, garage and a little barn surrounded by a 7 1/2" gauge track with trains to ride on. Unfortunately, the people who bought the property, razed everything and built a mansion. The little train barn was donated to the LALS (thankfully). How sad! It (Walt Disney's property) should have been made into a historic landmark or something.

The barn is only open on the 3rd Sunday of the month. There was a lot of interesting stuff in it.

Fun! How come you never told us about that?

we didn't know about it until last summer. M.G.'s sister took her kids to it and told us about it.

This reminds me of a photo clip with Walt Disney riding around his backyard on a train similar to these.
Looks like a very fun place, especially for a little boy!

Glad you all had a good time. We'll have to keep that in mind when we next visit CA.
