Baby is in the Universe

A few weeks ago, we are eating breakfast when Dragonfly asks "Mommy, how is that baby going to come out of you?" I then look at Miracle Gro for help. He just shrugs his shoulders and gives me the "good luck explaining that look".

So, I just dived in and told him the truth. I explained what a uterus is and told him it was like a balloon and when the baby was done growing, the uterus would contract and push the baby out through mommy's Ya Ya (boys have a pee pee and girls have a ya ya in our house). He just looked at me and I said "do you understand?" and he said "yep". (I have to say I was pretty impressed with myself for coming up with what I said on the fly) He never brought it up again or asked questions until last last week. He came into my room in the morning and started telling me about how the "baby is in the universe". I am thinking "what is he talking about". Finally, I ask Miracle Gro, "what is he saying?". M.G. says "I think he's trying to say uterus". "Ohhhh, do you mean Uterus?" D.F. says "is that the where the baby grows (like a balloon)." "Yes, thats right". I am thinking "wow, he actually did understand." I thought he was too young, but my children never cease to amaze me.

That is so funny! Destroy still calls october knocked-over. Although now I think it's oct-over.

Good one. I mean, your response. That balloon comparison is nice.
