Family Vacation/Reunion

Two weeks ago we drove to the Rockies for some vacation and a family reunion. It always feels great to get away for some intense family time. It was a long drive, but we got to see a lot of this great land (that there is so much of) that we are so fortunate to live in.

Beginning of our trip; the beautiful Columbia Gorge!

First stop- Twin Falls, ID

Visited the Shoshone Falls before hitting the road again. Worth the little side trip. They are known as the Niagara of the west. (This picture was not taken at their peak)

Best sign we saw...didn't get a great pic of. It was in central ID. One side read "Vote out Corruption" and the other said "Save the Constitution" With a large "Don't tread on me" Sign below. (These are the things which give us hope, b/c it tells us we're not alone.)

Stopped and visited with a friend from High School, who was on our way. I haven't seen her in 7 years, so it was great to catch up, see her cute boys and finally meet her husband. Wish we lived closer...

Last part of our drive- Palisades reservoir.

Had a picnic and messed around at a playground in Alpine, WY.

One of our favorite pics from the trip. Caught this while entering Grand Teton National Park.

We hiked 2+ miles around Jenny Lake and up to Hidden falls. Snap Dragon was a trooper and hiked the whole way. The other 3 were carried...

...so, we took the ferry across the lake back. Totally worth the $!

Speaking of money...its nice to be able to do this now. "Can we get Ice Cream???" Kids ask, "Sure, we can do that!" We say without feeling guilty that we may break the bank. Everyone still had to share a large sundae, instead of getting their own, but hey...at least they got some. ;) (ice cream must be rare in Jackson, Wy- by how $$ it was)

Next stop- SLC to spend more time with Cousins.

On Thrusday, we met up in Heber City for a picnic and Heber Creeper ride with Grandpa.

Snapdragon was in heaven...he still love trains A LOT!

Babies took their afternoon nap so they were wonderful the whole ride.

Train got robbed. Love Tiger Lily's face here.

Nice hair Monkey

Snapdragon got to see the engine up close. Friday and Saturday were filled with a special family sealing session at the temple, a family dinner, pictures, talent show and a baby blessing. Saturday afternoon we headed for home. It seemed like a lot longer trip than it was, which to me is a good thing.
