This was not part of our day trip, but is somewhat related. M.G. was at work while we were here; why he is not included in pictures.A few weeks ago we went downtown for a cheese festival; won some prizes, got some free samples: grilled cheese, cheese and ice cream. And we got to take our picture with "Tillie" the cow and the "Baby Loaf". Seriously, the people here must really love their cheese. ;)
Last Saturday we took a day trip to the coast. The first of many I am sure!
First Stop: Cheese Factory

After the factory we continued out to the coast to see a lighthouse and go to the beach.
Here is proof that we were all in the lighthouse.

We went to the beach in this tiny town. I was so pleased to see all these mature trees on the hill side. (One my biggest pet peeves of CA, is the destruction of the land that occurs when they decide to build homes.) Also, parking was free!
Lucky for us, it was in the 70's and sunny. We found the sand to be a very soft and silky texture and the beach was flat. But, nothing is perfect; it was too windy.
I just couldn't get over the beauty of it all. Words really don't do it justice. For the first time in my life I am loving where I live. I love how everything is green, there are trees everywhere and it is not blazing hot. (I know, everyone has warned me, the winter is rainy and overcast...but hey, at least its not snow, right?) Also, there is so much to do here. Parks galore, the zoo, children's museum, train rides, library, water fountains, pools, community activities, etc... We still don't really have friends to hang out with so we just keep busy by exploring the area.

I'm seriously offended at the "no friends" comment. We'll have to remedy that :-)
We love the cheese factory! They have the best, creamiest ice cream. Mmmm...just thinking about it makes me wish the factory was here.

Yes, Kristi we do need to remedy that. Snapdragon keeps asking to go. Apparently we just need to plan something because the men are not going to do it.
I love the northwest! This is the best place to live, and you just tell everyone that it rains all the time so we keep it all to ourselves. :)
