This past week and 1/2, we at the garden, have not been feeling well. Then, on top of that, add working on a campaign and then throw in going to daylight standard. WE ARE EXHAUSTED! I am sure every parent out there knows exactly what we are talking about. We will be taking it easy and trying to get back to our normal life schedules here.
*on a side note, last night was completely anti-climatic and a little depressing after all was said and done. And in case you were unaware, "Spread the wealth" is socialism. Many men have warned and history has shown us the dangers of socialism/communism. Here is an audio clip of one. Let us hope that Americans stand up and do not allow this to happen. Stand up for what you believe, because it works and they will have to listen!

Amen to your sidenote. I fell asleep after OH went Obama. I'm sick to my stomach today but hopeful because I heard every states marriage amendments passed (except we weren't sure about CA?)!
Also, fantastic new quote, I stole it for my FB. :)
p.s.- Hope you all feel better soon!
Hope you feel better soon too.
P.S. How do you feel about the law of consecration?
Ahh Erika.
We love the law of consecration. We love the idea that people can get together and support each other with their resources.
At face value, the Law of Consecration and run of the mill socialism appear very similar. The goal is the same; a society that where everyone has their needs met and equality reigns.
How that comes about is very different. Socialism forcibly, mainly through taxes, takes from some and gives to others. The people in socialism doing the redistribution are following bureaucratic guidelines as to determining the needs of others.
Law of consecration is a voluntary program. Only those who want to share wealth are in the program, so that have no qualms giving of their substance to those who are in need. The redistributing authority, the bishop, hopefully knows everyone in the program intimately enough so as to fairly and justly allocate resources to meet needs/wants of those in the program. He will be guided by the spirit in those allocation decisions, making for a more efficient outcome.
I know that President Benson seemed to have some over the top rhetoric about his views of welfare and redistribution and his words probably could have been organized in a more diplomatic fashion. But it all comes down to agency. Socialism removes it. Consecration embraces it.
So then, I suppose the issue at hand is whether or not one believes that socialism is really where this path is taking us. We shall see :)
Thanks for clearing up your position. I thought I might understand your position better, and I do. I don't completely agree, but I have a better understanding of why you think that way. Thanks.
I just want to make it clear that I don't think socialism will come about just b/c Obama will be president. It has already been slowly seeping into our country for years. *This fall, the nationalizing of the major banks was a huge signal that it is happening. I just believe, after reading Obama's plans and hearing him speak, he is going to take us completely there. I hope I am wrong and he turns this thing around, but if it looks like he is trying to pull the sheep over everyone's eyes, I will stand up and fight it.
