Last Stop

The Gamble House

This house is an amazing example of American Arts and Crafts style architecture. The house and furnishings were designed by
Charles and Henry Greene in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter and Gamble Company. The house, a National Historic Landmark, is owned by the City of Pasadena.

This is another site I have wanted to see since moving to Southern CA. I saw pictures of the interior woodwork in an interior design class at BYU and fell in love. It is truly a work of art and seeing it in person exceeded all my expectations. The house was even larger than I imagined and the woodwork was amazing. Unfortunately I couldn't take a tour at this time, but did get to peek in the windows and talk with a tour guide who just finished the last tour of the day. Hopefully I will get back and do the tour before we move.

That is a beautiful house. I really love the arts and crafts style. Here in Tokyo, many of the houses are modern. Also beautiful, but lacking the warmth.
