I had an experience with a critter such as this yesterday. I was walking through the grass near our house in flip-flops. After a little a few steps, I felt this searing pain in my toe. Some shouting, four letter words and thrashing of my foot ensued. I saw, after I had kicked off my flip-flop, a bee tumble to the sidewalk. Poor little thing. All that energy he put into stinging me and for what? To die in a heap on the side walk? I feel bad that they have this reaction. I wonder if they have the thought that defending themselves results in certain death. Anyways, I picked up my shoe and hobbled like an angry pirate (yelling and grunting like one too) upstairs to our house. the gardener was kind enough to tweeze out the stinger. She commented on the size of it, which made me feel a little more justified in my use of language earlier.
So, I woke up this morning to a swollen toe and foot. I know I am not allergic to bee stings, but this is still kinda weird. But cool at the same time. WARNING: PICTURE OF STEVEN FOOT TO FOLLOW. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.

Ouch. I notice that you have what I call a "normal" foot. Toes in descending order. Daniel insists that the second toe being longer is just as normal. I disagree.
Is that medicine on your toe, or the result of the bee? Ouch! Also, Nancy, fantastic Garth choice, this is one of my favorites, after The Change and B.wood one.
I thought it was "normal" as well to have the 2nd toe longer than the big toe. Must be a family thing.
My family has both sets of toes. What is more interesting that the length of my second toe is that I can pinch pretty hard with my toes. Also, there is no medicine on my foot. That is just the redness and swelling from the sting.
My second toes are also shorter than my big toes. Wow, cool! I thought it was normal until I started noticing that most people have second toes that are longer than the big toes.
